    DIY Kitchen Island Lighting Part 3

    Almost complete! Part 2 showed the partial assembly of our light. This part 3 has an almost complete view on the project. The bar is painted. Wiring done and tucked away. Chain connected. All that is left to do is take the old light fixture down, and hang the new one. I need to go to Home Depot and grab new eyelet bolts, with hollow hangers. The ones I have were assuming the beams went across the room, which they don’t. Enjoy the pictures and video below. I promise, it is gro

    Continuing from yesterday’s “DIY Kitchen Island Lighting” post, I don’t have much of an update tonight. My Sputnik XPS13 ultrabook took a dive today at work, so I didn’t have much time to work on the project; instead I spent it rebuilding my laptop. Apparently, updating Ubuntu 12.04 to 13.04, on a dual booted system, corrupts and wipes the NTFS partition for Windows. :/ Anyway, this post is about my DIY.     We HATE the florescent flush lighting in our kitchen. Why builders even cheap on these items is beyond me. If the previous owners of this house avtually asked for that to be installed, they shouls have their heads checked. Anyway, the wife and I have been on a hunt for “the perfect lighting” to go above our kitchen island. Guess what we found? NOTHING! It doesn’t exist.
